The new era of Carolina Herrera has begun, and it was left very clear this past September 10th during the New York Fashion Week, with the debut of the American designer Wes Gordon as creative director of the brand.
Wes Gordon Debut on Runway show
After 37 years, the successful Venezuelan designer, Carolina Herrera; has stepped down and given the opportunity to Wes Gordon, who proved on his first runway show, since assuming the position back in march 2018; that many changes are coming for the brand, without letting out of sight the essence and elegance that has always characterized Carolina Herrera and which her loyal and loving clients always seek in their designs.
During his Carolina Herrera runway debut at the New York Fashion Week, color was a big statement, with a palette empowered by yellow and accompanied with bright pink, green and staple black and white that showcases the iconic and classic women that the brand represents. However, classic came with a twist; the shoulder pieces, oversized sleeves, voluminous skirts and satin fabrics also had a strong presence.
Fresh and fun prints such as polka dots, stripes and floral statements sometimes combined, demonstrating very clearly the direction in which Wes Gordon plans to renovate the brand and its designs.
But it’s not just going to the future, also retro touches can be seen walking down the runway in every look, as a remembrance to the brand origins, and also as a reinvention of the classic skirt and shirt combo that Carolina Herrera made famous back in the 80’s, reimagined in 2018 with a bright yellow pencil skirt, white lace shirt and a golden chain belt to complete the look.
Without a doubt, there are great expectations in the books for Carolina Herrera under the creative direction of Wes Gordon. Bright, fun, chic, elegant and fashionable decisions will steer CH into a new promising future.
